- [Instructor] All right, I know I told you that we were going to get working in Syntex, but the first thing I want to show you actually occurs inside your regular SharePoint sites. Here's a simple SharePoint library with a few documents. Now, some of these document names give a really good clue as to what kind of document it is, but not all of them do. Some of them are mysteries. And wouldn't it be nice if we had a metadata column that told us what the document category was. Now, of course, we could manually add a category column and go through the documents one by one, find that information and then update the entry. But why would we want to do all that work when Syntex and SharePoint can do it for us? Let's start by clicking the Add column link and selecting Text as the column type. And then clicking Next.
