- Easily identifying issues and patterns across a large amount of data is possible, which can simplify a routine task and offer predictions, but these tools are still in early development stages and don't always match facial recognition and error detection accurately. I encourage you to use your foundation in human-centered design to uncover discoveries and critique AI tools. You can improve the tools and reduce the potential harm of their inaccuracies. To help you, I provided a template available in the course materials that you can use as a reference. I want you to be mindful of the risk posed with AI tools. According to Dr. Joy Buolamwini in the "Coded Bias" documentary, some algorithms cannot detect dark-skinned faces or classify women with accuracy, which led to the realization that machine learning algorithms are not free from prejudice, which Buolamwini coined the coded gaze.
