Ponder this. Oncologists are extensively trained to diagnose cancer, but all too often they're given little to no training on how to tell someone they have cancer. In the same way, you've likely not received training for the biggest part of your job. Managing people and worse, just because you have excelled as an individual contributor does not mean you naturally know how to manage a team of individual contributors.
