Tap into higher-order thinking
- Did you know our brain has different levels of thinking? And the crazy thing is, growing up, schools usually only train us to use the lower-order thinking skills: remembering, understanding, and applying new knowledge. But school tends to lack practice and application of higher-order thinking skills, which also happen to be the ones that allow you to have the most impact: analyzing, evaluating and creating. These thinking skills are based on Bloom's Taxonomy, a framework first proposed back in the 1950s that breaks down the different levels of cognitive skills we use to learn, starting with a basic recall of information and working our way up to synthesis and evaluation of knowledge.
