- The 20% energy position is fear based. Whether helping ourselves or others in order to move from 20 to 40, we must address the fear. What I've learned through years of personal transformation and working with others is what people fear most is someone else's judgment. The judgment of that 80 percenter in the story some place. Think about it. If no judgment, where's the fear. It does little good to tell 20 percenters what's wrong with them. They probably already know what that is. Since they're already in a victim state, they're sensitive to rejection so feeling more rejected will only drive them further back. One reason why negative performance evaluations or criticisms seldom improve performance. The ability to coax, encourage and inspire is the essence of 40% leadership. It's how you get from 20 to 40.
