What are parameters?
- [Instructor] Now that you know so much about filters, I want to introduce you to another feature to enable more interactivity in Tableau, parameters. Parameters are workbook variables. This means that whatever value they contain gets applied everywhere in the workbook. As such, you can use them across sheets, dashboards, and even across data sources, as long as everything is in the same workbook. You can use parameters to replace a constant value in a calculation, filter, or reference line. Because you can make parameters accessible to users, they can then steer the constant to their preference, influencing those calculations, filters, and reference lines as is most valuable to their use case. Let's jump to Tableau. You can create a parameter in the data pane under the caret in the top right hand corner. You should always assign a meaningful name to your parameter.
