- [Instructor] What other options do we have to add some context to a chart? We can bring in a constant line. If I drag this constant line into the view, Tableau only offers me the whole table as a scope. That is because a constant will have the same value everywhere, so it does not matter whether we apply it per bar, or pane, or table, the value will remain constant. Constant lines are great when we have a set target value or some other kind of reference that is global for all our data. We can either set a constant value here or we can click on the line to set a value. Clicking the line can be tricky at times. Again, set the value here. This is not very interactive for consumers though. You will remember that we added a reference line using a parameter a few chapters ago. We can do the same thing with this constant line.
