- Elvis Presley says this about values. "Values are like fingerprints. "Nobody's are the same, "but you leave them all over everything you do." Your values are unique to you and are the key to developing self-awareness. So what do you value? How do your values influence you? A good one place to start is identifying your core values. Your core values are broad concepts that can be reapplied many times over in your life in various situations to guide your actions and behaviors. To identify what your core values are, first brainstorm a list of 20 or so values that you identify with. Some common values may be advocacy, passion, security, making a difference, family, integrity, et cetera. Download the attached exercise file to use as a guide as you identify your values.
