- Okay, at this point you've accomplished a lot. You've thoughtfully selected an event from your life that can be the backbone of a great story. You've identified your main theme, one or more main ideas, placed the events of the story on a three-part structure and maybe added a call to action. But that's not all. If you've done all that I asked, you've also sought feedback and been editing your outline. So what's left? Well, it's time to take your interesting and detailed outline and turn it into a complete written story like the ones we used as examples. Writing it out exactly as you wish to say it out loud when you eventually share the story is essential. This allows you to move past the well-organized collection of ideas you've gathered to actually deliver a smooth and coherent story that is easily understood by anyone who hears it.
