Adding other data sources - SQL Server Tutorial
From the course: SQL Server Analysis Services
Adding other data sources
- [Instructor] So we've already added data to our model and all of it came from one place, SQL Server, but your data doesn't have to come from all in one place. Analysis Services supports the ability for multiple sources. You could link SQL Server with Salesforce if you wanted to, or data from Excel. The process to get data from Excel is very similar to how we brought in data before. You are going to need to remember the location where you put the class exercise file provided, so you can browse to it as it might be different from where I put mine. I just put it on the desktop. Just to be a little bit different, this time we're going to import data using the icon that looks like a little drum here underneath a window. So I'm going to go ahead and select that, and I'm going to get this Get Data pop-up like we saw before, and selecting All and Excel Workbook. Conveniently, that's where the data is. I'm going to go ahead…
