Decision tree classification in SPSS

- [Speaker] Sometimes, you'll see pictures of people doing their business planning at a big whiteboard with lots of post-it notes and they're drawing out decisions if this, then that. And they make a flow diagram. Now that's one kind of decision tree, but what I want to talk about right now is a different kind. That's sometimes called decision tree analysis. A decision tree is a way of going through the data and selecting variables and cut points in those variables that best separate cases so that you can get to the best predictive model of what you have. And what's neat about it is in one sense, it doesn't build a linear model. It's a graphical model and it's very easy to interpret and it can even be very easy to apply. And so let me show you how this works in SPSS. I'm using a dataset here.
