- [Instructor] A brand's reputation is a precious asset that's important to maintain and protect. While social media provides companies with the opportunity to scale their messaging and connect their brand to the masses, there's also numerous reputational risks to account for. One that's continuing to evolve across social media and other channels is the spread of disinformation and misinformation, especially in the form of deepfakes. This shows up as bad actors creating deepfakes by manipulating existing content from a brand or creating entirely new messaging that's false and often indistinguishable from genuine content. Sometimes deepfakes are lighthearted mockery of a company or figure, but they can also feature very inappropriate content and spread false, harmful messaging about a brand.
