Adding steel columns to the model
- With a structural grid in place, adding columns is a snap. The main thing you need to think about while adding columns is the fact that Revit structure likes to look up. That is, when we add a column we must specify the height of the columns as we are adding them. To get started, I'm going to open structural hyphen zero five. Go down to level one, in the project browser under structural plans. Go to the structure tab, and then click the column button. I don't see the column I want in my model, so I'm going to go over here to Load Family. Notice that it says columns here. That's the wrong column, that's an architectural column. That doesn't work for us. Scroll down till you find Structural Columns. Go to steel. Let's find M_HSS-Hollow Structural Section-Column. Click open. You can expand your dialogue by kind of clicking down and dragging. I want to find HSS152.4x152.4. So I'll scroll down to HSS152.4x152.4x9.5. Click OK.
