What is a project charter?
- [Presenter] Imagine launching a project with no clear direction, no alignment, and no agreement on what success looks like. Sounds like a disaster waiting to happen, right? That's exactly why the project charter exists. It's the single most important document for setting up a project correctly from the start. A project charter isn't just a formality, it's the project's official launch document. It does three critical things. It authorizes the project, or it's the formal go signal. The charter defines high level details such as the scope, objectives, and key players, and it aligns stakeholders to ensure that everyone agrees on what's happening and why.
