Essential steps before using LinkedIn Recruiter

- [Instructor] In this chapter, we'll take a look at how to create a project in Recruiter, customize the settings and add team members. First though, let's discuss what information you should have ready when preparing to use LinkedIn Recruiter to find candidates. When creating a new project in Recruiter, you'll need to know much of this information, so I highly recommend that you take the time to learn the details surrounding the position and the desired candidate before you dive in. This information will also help you to create Job Pulse, utilize the filters and more. Finding this information out may involve consulting with hiring managers or HR, reviewing job descriptions and considering company culture and team needs. Here on the screen, I have a template of the things that I would gather before starting on the project. Now, this template is nothing special. I created it inside of a Word document, and I recommend that you create one with the details that are most important to your workflow. I'll go through this a bit and show what I'm looking for. So here is a project name, the job position, including the title and department, the job description, any skills that are required, qualifications, the location. Different things like seniority level, employment type, salary range, company information. Don't underestimate the importance of learning about the company and its culture, mission and values. Candidate preferences, keywords. Another important one of ways that you can narrow down candidates to find the right ones for your situation, whether or not you want to add team members to collaborate with and additional notes. Now, like I said, these may not all be relevant for your situation, but I do recommend that you create some sort of template like this that you can fill out before you begin creating a Recruiter project. Now, in another tab, I have this template filled out for a position that I want to hire and create a project for inside a Recruiter. Now I named it here, sales manager for San Francisco, and then I filled it out. So behind the scenes I did the work, talked to the right people, researched the job description, and more to find out the details of this. Here I can see key responsibilities, different skills, keywords, and so on. So as you can see, I have this thing filled out and now I'm ready to create a project. Next, let's take a look at how to get started by creating a project in LinkedIn Recruiter.
