Utilize the Open To button on LinkedIn
- [Instructor] Before we move on to the rest of Julie's profile, I want to quickly point out the Open To button beneath your name and headline on your profile. The Open To button on LinkedIn is a versatile tool to let others know that you're open to new opportunities. If I go ahead and click on this, you'll see here I have four options, finding a new job, hiring, providing services, or finding volunteer opportunities. Now, if one of these fits you, you can select it to notify people that this is the case. So in other words, let's say that Julie is actively searching for a new job. I can click here on finding a new job and it brings up this pop-up box. From here I can enter in the job title, location types, the actual location, I can put in a start date, employment types, and then at the bottom is an important part. If I want to say that I'm looking for a job, but I only want recruiters to know that, not anybody else, then I can select the top, recruiters only. And when I do that, nobody will be able to notice that I've checked that by looking at my profile unless they are a recruiter. Now, below this, you could also select all LinkedIn members, and in Julie's case, maybe she wants people to know that she's looking for a job. If so, she can click here and what that will do is add a frame that says Open to Work on her profile picture. I'm going to go ahead and click all LinkedIn members and save. When I do that, I'll refresh the page here. And you can see that it now has Julie's profile picture with the Open to Work frame right inside of it. So it's that easy to signal to others that you are open to certain things, such as searching for a job, trying to hire people, providing your professional services, or looking for volunteer opportunities. Now, you can see down here that I have the Open to Work frame applied. If I don't want that anymore, I can click on the pencil icon and simply go Delete. I'll delete that. And now it's her profile picture without that Open to Work badge. So that's the Open To button.
