- No longer can leaders order people to do something or live by the catchphrase of my way or the highway. You must have the ability to capture the attention of others and to provoke them to want to take action. Much research on leadership over the past two decades has demonstrated that leaders spend from around 75% to 90% of their time on communication activities. Additionally, it reveals that professionals who communicate effectively and confidently go further faster in their careers than those who don't. Let's first understand that great communicators are developed. They are not born. The art of communicating effectively can happen in many different forms, but what's most important is to convey a message that impacts and influences others. Impact and influence as a competency is the ability to persuade or convince others to support an idea, initiative, or a request. It is also the ability to invoke someone to act.…
