- [Presenter] Your phone can send a message, or make a call in seconds regardless of your location, which is incredible, but it is the result of a complex architecture of telecom network. Let's take a journey behind the scenes of this incredible technology. Imagine yourself standing next to a giant cell tower, and at the top, you see those rectangular antennas. These are GSM antennas. They're constantly working to send and receive signals, keeping your phone connected to the nearest bay station. But there is more. You might have also noticed circular antennas on the tower. These are microwave antennas, and they play a critical role in the transmission, or transport network. When you send a message, or make a call, the data needs to travel from your phone to the cell site, and from there, it heads toward the core network.
