What skills are needed for analytics engineering?
- [Instructor] With the adequate skills learned, anyone can transition into analytics engineering. The number one skill to have is SQL. I cannot stress this enough. You'll be using SQL on a daily basis to query and model data. SQL is a programming language that is used for managing data in relational data management systems, something I discussed in more depth in the previous course. There are different dialects of SQL, but most analytics engineers will be operating mainly in the cloud-based data warehouses, such as Snowflake, Redshift, or BigQuery. Again, this course will only be using basic SQL, but a more advanced level will definitely be needed for those looking to move into this role and use SQL in a professional setting. Python and other programming languages will be helpful to know for analytics engineering, but that will vary from company to company. We will not be going over Python in this course. Some BI tools…
