From the course: Deploying and Configuring Core TCP/IP Services
Optimizing your clients and servers
- [Joli] This course covers deploying and configuring core TCP/IP services on local networks and large organizations. This course doesn't have much fluff. We discuss the basics, and we do it tersely. Exactly what you need to know to configure both clients and servers with IP addresses, subnet masks, DHCP and DNS, without any unnecessary chatter. You'll learn more than just configuring, though. You'll learn how to calculate a subnet mask and how to determine which part of an IP address is the network ID and which is the client. You'll learn about CIDR notation and you'll learn how to turn a Windows server into a DHCP server or a DNS server.
