How to improve the effectiveness of TA with analytics
- Once you have a baseline measure of the effectiveness of talent acquisition and hiring, you'll want to improve these metrics over time. How do you do that? Let's pick one of the metrics. Here's a chart we will use. If you select performance ratings as a quality of hire metric, you can do a few analyses to identify opportunities to improve it. One is to look at the quality of hire by source. In the graph, you see that new hires via referrals have higher ratings on average than employees hire through other channels. What conclusion should you draw from this? Should you only hire by referrals going forward? Not necessarily. It is insightful to know the referrals are effective, however, most organizations cannot fill all the jobs by referrals, so this may be unrealistic. In addition, it'll be important to analyze how referrals impact the diversity of your talent pipeline.
