Create a presentation from scratch
- Imagine walking into a meeting with a presentation that wows your audience, not just because of the content, but because of its flawless design, captivating visuals, and seamless flow. Now picture creating that presentation in a fraction of the time without the stress or late night cramming. With Copilot in PowerPoint building stunning presentations from scratch becomes as easy as brainstorming your ideas. By the end of this lesson, you'll be using Copilot to help you craft professional, impactful presentations that leave a lasting impression. No design skills required. So let's set up a scenario. Your manager has asked you to create a presentation about incorporating storytelling into business processes. He's given you a working title for the project, the Power of Storytelling in Business: Crafting Narratives That Resonate. We now need to create a PowerPoint presentation about this topic, but so far we've been staring at this blank presentation for 20 minutes, unsure where to start. Let's get some help from Copilot. Now notice we have a Copilot icon in the presentation, and when we click this, it reveals a menu with things we can do with this presentation. So we can replace with a presentation about something else. We can create a presentation from a file. We can summarize this presentation, or we can ask Copilot. Also, notice if we go to the home ribbon, we have our good old Copilot icon at the end. If we click to open this up, it's going to open up a pane very similar to when we were working with Excel. And again, we have a few different actions that we can take. So we are going to say, create a presentation about, if I click this option, notice that it puts that text into the prompt box at the bottom, and now we can just add what we want our prompt to say. So I want Copilot to create a presentation about the power of storytelling in business crafting narratives that resonate. Let's send it through and see what Copilot does with that and check out what it's done. It's created all of these slides for us based on our prompt. We have our title slide at the beginning, and if we click through, we can see that it's automatically created a really nice looking presentation. This is a great foundation for us to build out our presentation. Copilot has created the slides, it's added the titles, the text, and it's generated some imagery. Now remember, all of this can be modified, so if you don't like something that's been added, that's absolutely fine. You can go in and you can replace the images, you can replace the text. Another really cool thing that Copilot does when it builds these presentations is that it automatically adds speaker's notes at the bottom. So if we were going to present this to an audience, again, we just have a really nice basis there, and we can either use these notes or we can add to these notes. And remember, when you're working with Copilot in PowerPoint, this works really well with Designer, which is another AI utility that you'll find inside PowerPoint. If we select slide two, for example, and go up to the home ribbon, next to the Copilot icon, we have the designer button just here. And if we click on this, it's going to generate some design ideas. So it'll basically look at our slide and give us different variations. So if you decide that you want something a bit different, like this one looks pretty good, I can add that in. We have lots of different versions of that slide. I think this is impressive and a great way to get started with a presentation when you are suffering from a lack of creativity. Why not give it a go? Open a blank presentation, type an idea, and let Copilot work its magic. Your show stopping presentation is just a few clicks away. Let's make it happen.
