- [Instructor] Organizations have a lot of sensitive information they need to control, such as financial data, such as banking and payroll and client invoicing, proprietary data in use such as custom applications with sensitive data, and credit card numbers for clients that may be stored on a server, health records of patients or employees that need confidentiality, and social security numbers that have all kinds of security implications. To help protect with the sensitive data, they need a way to help prevent users from inappropriately sharing sensitive data with people who shouldn't have it. This practice is called data loss prevention or DLP. Within Microsoft 365, there's a lot of different applications that can be used with data loss prevention. Microsoft 365 services such as Teams, Exchange, SharePoint, and OneDrive accounts are going to be the most common. And there's also Office applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
