What is a custom function?
- There are going to be a lot of times in your data cleaning journey where you would need peculiar behavior to solve a particular problem. Things that you would need would clearly be beyond the scope of the current library of Power Query functions. In those scenarios, what you can do is you can mix and match functions together to create your own custom functions. And once you learn that how do you create a custom function that solves a very peculiar problem? You have unlocked a world of opportunities. Let's just start with some basics of creating custom functions. Let's learn the basics of creating a custom function from a blank Excel file. I've got this file here and I'm going to go in Power Query and start to work there. So, in Data tab, I'm going to say that I would like to get data from other sources and I'll create a blank query right here.
