- When you find a quarter of any date in Power Query, it has two problems. The first problem is that it throws a number, but I would instead want to see Q1, and Q2, and Q3, and Q4, which is an easy problem to solve, it's not that hard, but the harder problem is that how do I customize the calculation of the quarter, not as per calendar year, that starts in January, ends in December, but any custom fiscal year that could start anywhere in the middle of the year, how do we solve the problem? Let's just take a look. Okay, I'm in Excel and that's where I'm working with a couple of dates right here. They are a month apart. And from these dates, I'd like to be able to calculate the fiscal quarter as per Indian financial year. Now, although I'm discussing the example of Indian financial year, but once you understand how that is done, you can then customize this solution to any particular financial year or any month ending.
