Sub-object transform constraints
- [Instructor] Quite often when editing geometry, you'll find a need to move subobjects in the space of the surface itself. In other words, the frame of reference for transforms is the surface, not the world or the object pivot point or anything else but transforming relative to the surface itself. That's very helpful in a situation such as this, where I want to move this newly created edge loop on my seat cushion and I want to move all those edges up and inward while still preserving the general shape of the overall model. And that's a job for subobject transform constraints. Let's isolate this cushion object with it selected. I'll isolate with control Alt Q, and in the modeling ribbon, I want to make sure that I'm at the bottom level. I'll click to go to the previous modifier a couple times. I'm in modeling mode, and I'm at the level of the editable poly base object. Again, I want to select these edges, so I'll go into edge subobject mode, and let's do this with show end result…
