Projects

  • Underground Entrepreneurs Experiential Photography Exhibit

I set out a six-month project to create a unique journalistic photography exhibit of New York street musicians, interweaved raw imagery, intense details, and live street musician performance for audience to experience an intimate narrative of their passion, hope and despair. More than 200 people came to experience the two-day exhibit at Tribeca Cinemas Gallery.

  • Go-Giver Book Event at Ernst & Young

I loved Bob Burg’s Go-Giver: The Five Laws of Stratospheric Entrepreneurial Success and Heath brothers’ Made to Stick: Why Some Ideas Survive and Others Die. I worked with EY to host a book event. The authors donated 200 books and Bob graciously came to speak. It was a great to see go-giving in action!

In 2002 I had an idea that the School of Computer Science should have an online presence, a site that connects the students together. A place where they can share events that are happening, projects that they are working on, message others online, and post photos, lots of photos so students, faculty, and their family can get a holistic feel of what is happening at CMU. A place where they can share events that are happening, projects that they are working on, message others online, and post photos, lots of photos so students, faculty, and their family can get a holistic feel of what is happening at CMU. I led a small team of three, designed and built Lifebook. It had all the features we wanted—event posting, photo albums, and messaging. I graduated in 2004 and a few hundred undergraduate CS students were part of the community. I loved the creative process, the design process, the build. What I didn’t realize, was the commercial value it had, and the rise of social era that was taking shape 500 miles away, at Harvard, now known as Facebook.

  • Andrew Carnegie Society

    Executive Board

    -

Education and philanthropy play critical roles in the advancement of humanity. The society was founded in 1972 to financially support Carnegie Mellon’s mission of excellence in education, research, and innovation. As a second-term board member, I have been consciously evolving our strategy to better engage the younger generation. Thus far we have doubled membership to 3000+, nearly a third of overall alumni population.
