“Tom is one of those people that you feel lucky to have meet and had the chance to work for in the course of your career. He is thoughtful, challenging in the right way, and courageous in making the hard decisions that come with running a global customer service organization for one of the world's most dynamic and fast evolving companies. As a manager and mentor, he trusted me to run my business while providing advice and guardrails to stay in step with the company direction. He has a knack for asking the question that suddenly clears away ambiguity and gives me clarity on the next step. One of the things I admire about Tom is his ability to connect with employees at all levels, and truly be the voice of the front line. He found time every week to take live contacts from customers so that he could personally experience what customers were saying and what it was like to solve their issues as an associate. From there, he would step into a meeting discussing the future of contact automation and the bot strategy, tapping another of his strengths - using technology to be two to three steps ahead of the immediate needs. There are not many people who have led organizations of this size and breadth, with this much change and innovation. Tom made it look easy. Tom leaves Amazon CS with strong leaders and deep roots in customer obsession. His mark is permanent on the org and on Amazon. I look forward to seeing him take on his next challenge. ”
