Verify your applicant source tracking

Last updated: 4 months ago

You can use LinkedIn's applicant source attribution verification feature to confirm that your tracking codes are correctly set up in your applicant tracking system (ATS). By verifying your codes, you ensure that applicant source data moves smoothly, giving you a clearer understanding of where your hires originate.

Before you begin

  • Have your ATS details ready. Make sure you know where to enter or check source codes in your ATS.
  • Locate your source codes. Ensure you have the specific codes (e.g., gh_src=abc123) assigned to LinkedIn.

Verify applicant source tracking

To verify applicant source tracking, follow these steps:

  1. From the Recruiter homepage, move your cursor over your profile photo in the top right corner and select Account overview from the dropdown.

  2. Click Job posting under Company Settings, then click View/edit under Job Sources for automated job postings. Under Configured sources, you'll see a list of your ATS platforms integrated with LinkedIn.

  3. Check the Applicant tracking status column. This column will display either Not verifiedVerified, or Not tracked next to each ATS source.

    Each status means the following:

    • Not verified: The system detected a code, but you have not confirmed if it works in your ATS.
    • Verified: You confirmed that LinkedIn applicant source codes are working correctly in your ATS.
    • Not tracked: You confirmed that LinkedIn applicants are not appearing in your ATS; additional troubleshooting is needed.
  4. Click Verify tracking (if not yet verified). A side panel will open prompting you to confirm whether applicants from LinkedIn are correctly tracked in your ATS.

  5. Select one of the following options:

    • Yes, applicants are being tracked: If you're sure candidates applying through LinkedIn appear correctly in your ATS.
    • No, applicants are not being tracked: If you're not seeing candidates or suspect an issue.
  6. Optional: If you selected No, provide additional details. Specify whether "Candidates are not attributed to LinkedIn in my ATS", or "The test application was not attributed to LinkedIn" before you submit your selection. Another side panel will appear prompting you to open a support ticket.

  7. Click Submit.

Once you submit your selection, the status in the Applicant tracking status column will update to Verified if you selected yes, Not tracked if you selected no, or remain Not verified until the process completes.

Troubleshooting

  • Double-check your ATS settings by making sure the source codes (gh_src, adp_src, etc.) match exactly in both LinkedIn and your ATS.
  • After making changes, refresh the browser page or click Review jobs to ensure you're seeing the most up-to-date information.
  • Contact LinkedIn Support if you're still having trouble seeing accurate applicant data.
