This past Friday (7/11) was Walden's annual Volunteer Day. Walden staff from across NY and CT met at Part of the Solution, a Bronx-based organization that provides vital community services. The Walden team worked in the food pantry to help shoppers and restock for the next day, and in the kitchen to prepare and serve the day's lunch. With temps hitting the high 90s, staying cool in the city isn’t always easy, especially for our most vulnerable neighbors. We’re sharing tips and resources to help New Yorkers stay safe and cool. Part of the Solution(POTS), an agency of Catholic Charities New York, provides essential support. Through their Dignity & Wellness Program, individuals experiencing homelessness can access showers, nutritious meals, and a fully stocked food pantry, offering not just relief from the heat but dignity and care.

Congratulations to our Executive Director Christina Hanson on being recognized with the City & State 2025 Nonprofit Trailblazers Award and Crain's New York Business 2025 Notable Leaders in Philanthropy. Her incredible leadership continues to make POTS a beacon of hope in our community, and we couldn't be prouder of her accomplishments.

At Part of the Solution (POTS), an agency of Catholic Charities New York, Janice Sierra serves as Program Manager for the Dignity & Wellness Program, which provides essential services that restore comfort and care for our neighbors in need. For individuals experiencing chronic homelessness, POTS offers more than hot showers and fresh clothing. Clients can also access hygiene supplies, receive nourishing meals, and use the on-site mailroom — a critical resource for those without a permanent address.

This week we celebrated a major milestone for POTS as we took our annual Day in the Life event to a new level with the grand opening of our recent expansion on Webster Ave. The moment was filled with excitement and anticipation for this exciting addition to POTS. Gibson, MPA (She, Her, Hers, Ella) Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of New York Robin Hood Maverick Capital Foundation, our Community Advisory Committee and all of our guests for joining us!
