Grouting Game Strong💪 Out here at Red Bluff Dam in Orla, TX, the sonic drills might catch your eye first, but they’re only half the story. There’s seven of them standing tall and 32 pairs of boots on the ground making sure they stay that way and keep drilling. These folks are the heartbeat of our Red Bluff Dam rehabilitation project. We’re proud of the rigs but we’re here because of our people. People are why things happen! To all our site crews, You rock! #BuildOnUs #peoplearewhythingshappen

He’ll be joining fellow deep foundation enthusiasts July 20-22 to chat about drilled shafts, load tests, lessons learned, and where we’re headed next. If you're one of the lucky ones making the trip to Kohala Coast, be sure to say aloha to Cody! #BuildOnUs #GeotechInParadise #SunSandAndSoil

🦺💦 Divers, remote cameras, fractured basalt… oh my! The 2014 Wanapum Dam project was just another milestone in our 70-year run of tackling tough challenges. When a 65-foot crack showed up in Wanapum Dam Monolith 4, our crew took our talents to Beverly, Washington. They cored through fractured rock, drilled massive multi-tendon anchors 260 feet deep, and worked around the clock to teach that cracked dam monolith who's boss. For seven decades, we’ve kept the pressure on without cracking under it. Happy 70th anniversary to us! #BuildOnUs #70YearsStrong

Slurry to Slab👷 Nicholson’s work at the Paddy’s Run Flood Pump Station Capacity Upgrade Project, in Louisville, KY, is nearing the finish line. With 146,000 SF of diaphragm wall installed and nearly 30,000 CY of soil removed through multi-level bracing, the new flood pump station is one step closer to pumping and protecting. Big thanks to Ulliman Schutte Construction, the Design-Builder leading the charge, and to Louisville Metropolitan Sewer District, for letting us get our hands dirty on this epic flood protection project. #BuildOnUs

You know what they say… Mother knows batch!🌟 Say hello to Mother Plant No. 3, the main batching plant at the Red Bluff Dam project. She’s the heart of the operation, constantly mixing up the good stuff. Like any mother, she’s always working overtime and definitely doesn’t let bad grout slide. The views don’t hurt, but it’s the people and the work behind them that really make us proud. Hard hats off to our crew getting it done out there! 📸 robert-christopher cline #BuildOnUs

There’s nothing better than sharing the stories behind the work, and this week at GeoVirginia Case Studies Short Course Week, we had plenty to tell. Tom Richards, Mary Ellen Large, Rick Deschamps, and Frederic Masse walked through some of our most memorable projects, from a sliding hillside in Canada to the depths of the World Trade Center, with stops in Wisconsin, D.C., Pittsburgh, and West Virginia along the way. It wasn’t planned as “Nicholson Day,” but when you’ve got that many projects worth sharing, sometimes it just happens! Thanks to GeoVirginia for the platform and letting us nerd out over ground conditions, grout, and everything in between with our fellow geotech enthusiasts! #BuildOnUs #CaseStudyCrew #DeepFoundationsDeepStories
