If you’re cycling through London this month, you might see more than just our bikes at some junctions… 👀 Our ‘Respect the Red’ out of home take-over is part of Lime’s latest cycle safety campaign, aimed at tackling red light running - something one in ten (13%) London cyclists said they didn’t know was illegal. We’ve placed bold, clear safety messages right where they’re needed most, at high-traffic cycling hotspots and busy junctions, to remind cyclists that: 🔴 It’s illegal to run a red ⚠️ It’s dangerous 📣 And it’s everyone’s responsibility to keep the roads safe With 1.33 million cycle journeys a day in London, it’s part of our wider push to educate and encourage safe cycling behaviours, in response to a new report from Thinks Insight & Strategy.

RESPECT THE RED: Introducing Lime’s London-wide campaign to encourage safe cycling 🚦 Did you know that over half (52%) of London cyclists admit to running red lights, with 16% doing so regularly, according to a new study conducted by Thinks Insight & Strategy and commissioned by Lime. This is despite 82% saying they know it's dangerous. The report outlines three recommended interventions to promote positive behaviour change as cycling reaches record heights in London: ❔ Increased education ⚠️ Infrastructure improvements and policy innovation ✖️ Stronger enforcement So, as promised in our London Action Plan, we’re taking action now, educating the more than one in ten (13%) cyclists who said they didn’t even know running a red light on a bike was illegal. We will be launching our new 'Respect the Red' cycle safety campaign across London next week, alongside developing a new cycle training programme with Cycling UK to be rolled out later this summer. You can do both. Since 2019, we’ve cut our company-wide emissions intensity by 66.8%, while scaling to more cities and replacing more car trips than ever before. We’re not just on track for net-zero – we’re years ahead, already surpassing our 2024 targets and rolling far ahead of the Paris Climate Agreement’s 2050 goal.
