  • It's been 5 years since Kevin Ballen completed his summer internship at Impactual! Since then, he completed his studies in Sociology from Harvard and he worked in the Biden-Harris White House for two and a half years, both on the Operations team and then for the National Economic Council. Kevin says his biggest takeaway from his summer at Impactual was understanding how to develop a robust proof of concept with a strong founding team, reasonable but ambitious KPIs, a positive partner experience, and a compelling narrative. Thanks to Kevin for his contributions to help make Vote Early Day a success and best of luck to Kevin as he starts his law school studies in the Fall! #SocialImpact #Impactual #Internships

  • Abigail was a summer 2024 intern and recently graduated from Harvard this Spring. She is currently taking a gap year to focus on applying for Law School, finish writing a book, and pursue performing arts opportunities in New York City. Reflecting on her summer experience, Abigial said "Impactual not only gave me the opportunity to cultivate new skills, but they also actively sought out projects to which I could contribute my unique skill set. I was able to work across teams on social media projects to improve my graphic design abilities. Drawing on my own social media experience, I was asked to develop a social media informational document regarding how influencers can impact elections, and how influencers’ social media platforms can be leveraged to reach youth voters. I’m grateful for Impactual’s willingness to create a space where I could contribute to the team’s mission with my personal strengths." We're excited to see where Abigail lands for her Law School studies and we'll be watching to see the continued impact she will have on the world. #Internships #SocialImpact #Impactual

  • We are inspired and honored to be included on this impressive list. Thank you Jeff Juul for thinking of #Impactual. As we wrap up our firm's annual retreat today, our team is more energized than ever--driven by purpose, passion and a clear vision for the road ahead. With renewed focus and fresh ideas, team Impactual is ready to elevate our impact and shape the future, together. Cheers to bold moves and meaningful work in the midst of what feels like incredibly bleak times. We'll keep fighting the good fight!

I don't have many words for what happened in Minnesota in recent days and how everyone here is feeling, but I want to offer a few ways forward. These organizations are doing great work to connect people, have conversations, and offer ideas - of all political stripes. Julie Tesch is doing great work leading Center for Rural Policy and Development, connecting rural towns, farms, and families with each other and with our urban cores. Jake Loesch is doing great work leading Citizens League, connecting folks with resources to get involved in civic spaces in all of our local, suburban, and national conversations. Shannon Watson is doing great work leading Majority in the Middle, connecting like-minded, pragmatic folks interested in the political process as a means to solve our tough public policy challenges without the overwhelming negativity associated with partisan politics. Adam Duininck is doing great work leading mpls downtown council, fostering relationships between the business community, downtown residents, and visitors to the city of Minneapolis. Mike Logan at the Minneapolis Regional Chamber is doing very similar work. Tane Danger is doing great work leading Danger Boat Productions, using improv and comedy to engage folks in a different way with public policy issues. Libby Stegger is doing great work leading Civic Bridgers, helping teenagers become community leaders who engage and solve problems across lines of difference. Steve Grove is doing great work leading the The Minnesota Star Tribune, diversify the opinion section and making a very concerted effort to connect outstate news/storytelling with the Twin Cities news/storytelling. R.T. Rybak is doing great work leading the The Minneapolis Foundation, partnering with others to foster civic engagement, discourse, and advocacy. Carleton College is doing great work leading with their Center for Community and Civic Engagement (CCCE), hoping to engage in inclusive, sustainable, reciprocal relationships that foster student learning and faculty development, fulfill community identified needs, and promote an equitable and peaceful society. Susie Brown is doing great work leading the Saint Paul & Minnesota Foundation, investing in and learning from incredible organizations leading the charge on voter turnout and civic engagement in our communities. At the national level: Ashley Spillane is doing great work leading Impactual LLC, creating campaigns and conversation for nonprofits, philanthropists, brands, and civic-minded folks to drive important conversations. That's not an exhaustive list by any means, but it's a start - and a way to have more conversations. If you have others, please comment. I would encourage anyone, in Minnesota and beyond, to take a look at the work these organizations are doing and how you can be a part of the solution. Be well, friends.

  • The next Impactual intern alum being featured in this series is Ava Pallotta who recently graduated from Harvard University with a degree in Government and Sociology, and a Certificate in Civic Engagement. Following her time at Impactual as an intern in 2022, Ava worked as the Research Director for Voters of Tomorrow, a Gen Z-led 501(c)4 that contacted more than 30 million voters aged 18-29 in the 2024 election cycle. On campus, she was the 2023 Co-Chair of the Harvard Votes Challenge and Harvard’s 2025 Neman Civic Fellow through CampusConnect. Ava is currently preparing to begin her first post-grad full time job! She will be a middle school American history teacher in New Jersey through the AmeriCorps program Teach For America. We cannot think of a better person to educate our country's youth. Best of luck on your journey ahead, Ava and thanks for all your contributions to Impactual. #Internships #SocialImpact #Internships #TeachForAmerica
