Congratulations to Michael Ciaramitaro on His Prestigious Digital Forensics Certifications! We're proud to announce that Michael Ciaramitaro, Chief Operating Officer and subject matter expert in Digital Forensics, has recently successfully earned and renewed three of the industry's most respected digital forensics certifications: - EnCase Certified Examiner (EnCE) - Cellebrite Certified Operator (CCO) - Cellebrite Certified Physical Analyst (CCPA) These credentials represent some of the highest standards in the field of digital forensics and underscore Michael’s unwavering commitment to investigative excellence. The EnCE certification is globally recognized as a benchmark of proficiency in using EnCase software to conduct thorough, defensible digital forensic investigations. It affirms Michael’s ability to navigate complex evidence sets across computers, mobile devices, and storage media. The CCO certification validates Michael's expertise in forensically sound data extractions using Logical, File System, and Physical methods. The CCPA certification builds upon that foundation, confirming his advanced skills in post-extraction analysis using Cellebrite’s Physical Analyzer—including recovering deleted content, conducting complex keyword and pattern searches, exploring app databases, and generating comprehensive forensic reports. At ILS, we’re committed to ongoing education and continuous professional development. Michael’s achievement reflects our team’s dedication to delivering world-class digital forensic services, particularly in complex and evolving areas such as mobile device analysis, social media evidence, and emerging technology investigations. "These certifications enhance our ability to provide clients with the most advanced digital forensics capabilities available today," says Michael. "The landscape of digital evidence is constantly evolving, and staying at the forefront of these technologies ensures we can meet even the most challenging investigative requirements." Please join us in congratulating Michael on this outstanding accomplishment! #DigitalForensics #EnCE #Cellebrite #ProfessionalDevelopment #ILS #MobileForensics

The Modern Attachment Revolution: How Cloud Links Are Reshaping Electronic Discovery The shift from traditional email attachments to cloud-based hyperlinks is quietly revolutionizing eDiscovery. Modern attachments - those links to SharePoint, OneDrive, and Google Drive files embedded in emails - offer enhanced security and collaboration but create significant legal challenges. Key issues include maintaining document family relationships, capturing the correct version of dynamic documents, and navigating Microsoft licensing limitations that can leave gaps in collections. Recent cases like Nichols v. Noom and In re StubHub Refund Litigation show courts grappling with technological feasibility versus traditional discovery obligations. Read our article on modern attachments to learn more. https://lnkd.in/gjPxTUqA #ILS #eDiscovery #LegalTech #LitigationSupport

With deepfake technology now capable of creating nearly undetectable forgeries across all media types, the foundations of electronic evidence are being challenged like never before. Our latest video, "The Digital Deception Dilemma: How Deepfakes Are Transforming eDiscovery," explores this rapidly evolving landscape and what it means for your practice: Deepfakes now threaten the authenticity of all digital evidence—from videos and audio to images and text messages—creating unprecedented challenges in litigation. User-friendly tools like DeepFaceLab, Resemble.ai, and GPT-4 have dramatically lowered barriers to creating convincing forgeries across all media formats. Recent cases, including Huang v. Tesla and United States v. Reffitt, demonstrate how courts are already struggling with these authentication challenges. Disputes in the Age of AI Alan Brooks from ILS is at the Legal Innovators California conference in San Francisco today. Very interesting panel this afternoon titled “Disputes in the Age of AI.” Here are some of the most interesting insights from the panel. AI’s Impact: Efficiency, Collaboration, and Client Service • AI has significantly improved efficiency in litigation tasks such as summarizing complaints, drafting documents, and providing rapid client updates—sometimes cutting work time in half. • Collaboration in large, multi-firm cases has improved, especially in processes like depositions, where AI helps synthesize information and predict opposing counsel strategies. • AI-powered translation and interpretation tools have also streamlined international dispute work, enhancing communication and reducing turnaround times. AI as a Thought Partner and Force Multiplier • AI is increasingly used for brainstorming and strategy, acting as a “thought partner” to generate new arguments, anticipate opposing positions, and help lawyers think outside the box. • Junior lawyers benefit from AI, as it accelerates their learning and productivity, allowing them to deliver higher-quality work and focus on more substantive legal tasks. Risks, Limitations, and the Need for Validation • AI tools can make mistakes, misinterpret context, or hallucinate (e.g., generate fake citations), so human validation remains crucial. • Over-reliance on AI is a risk; lawyers must remember AI does not “reason” like a human and should not replace critical legal analysis. Panelists: Nicholas Long, Director of Practice Management, Jenner & Block LLP Bobby Malhotra, Partner & Chair, eDiscovery & Information Governance Practice, Winston & Strawn LLP Juan Perla, Partner, Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle LLP Allison Day, Of Counsel, Munger, Tolles & Olson LLP

Alan Brooks from ILS is at the Legal Innovators California conference in San Francisco today. Very interesting panel this morning titled “Driving Profitability With GenAI.” While this panel was focused on traditional law firms, there were some insights that are applicable to plaintiff firms. * Scalable AI Impact: While AI is currently a differentiator, true long-term value depends on integrating tech, IT, and legal expertise, and leveraging internal proprietary data. * Custom LLMs: Expanding on the first point, there is significant opportunity for custom LLM’s created by law firms using their work product and knowledge to radically reduce the effort for many workflows. * Impact on New Attorney Training: New generations of lawyers (already experienced with LLMs in education) expect tools and workflows aligned with AI. Traditional apprenticeship models based on legal writing and manual analysis are fast becoming obsolete. Moderator: Ashleigh Whittaker, Strategic Business Development Lead, Harvey Panelists: Beverly Rich, Partner, Messner Reeves LLP Aaron Crews, Partner, Holland & Knight Matthew Dunne, Senior Innovation and Data Science Manager, Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP Michael Ross, AI Innovation Attorney, Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP Ryan Samii, Head of Legal Vertical, Hebbia
