HousingPlus, Inc., founded in 2002, works to better the lives of homeless women and families by providing permanent and transitional housing with an array of services designed to aid and support their move from homelessness, devastating poverty and family fragmentation to stability, independence and family well-being. We start with where a woman is to build upon her strengths, asking from the first day, “What do you need to succeed?” At eight settings in Brooklyn and in Staten Island, we've designed a model to deliver comprehensive, integrated services in safe, home-like settings to foster a culture based on the core self-help principles of individual responsibility and mutual support.

Reflecting on our immense gratitude today for the four tenants who were honored on Thursday for our annual Good Person Awards. These four women represent incredible strength and resilience. Each of them shows that it is vital we assist and empower people in need. With the help of a home from HousingPlus, these women have reunited with family members, overcome substance addiction, and watched their children grow and go to college. We see time and time again that people are capable of wonderful things if they have support in their hours of greatest need.
Thank you, TD, for your sponsorship and support of women and families experiencing homelessness. What a great group photo from the Good Person Awards!
Grateful to HousingPlus for recognizing TD with the 2025 Good Person Corporate Award. It’s a privilege to support organizations working every day to create safe, stable, and dignified futures for women and families. A heartfelt congratulations to Rita Zimmer receiving the inaugural Legacy Award. Her unwavering commitment to justice, compassion, and community has changed countless lives and continues to inspire so many of us to do more. #CommunityImpact #TDReadyCommitment
What an amazing night! Last Thursday, we honored tenants, staff, and our amazing founder, Rita Zimmer, at the 2025 Good Person Awards Celebration. This was a special moment, as Rita begins a new chapter, and we look forward to continuing our life-changing work under the leadership of Karen Ford, LMSW. There were so many amazing moments throughout the night, including Karen's announcement that our next permanent supportive housing building in East New York will be named in Rita's honor.
Taking a moment today to elevate our Good Person Awards Staff Honorees. Tomorrow is our annual Benefit, where we will honor staff and tenants who have made a difference in our communities and positively influenced our mission.
