  • 🌏Project Update: Hospital Maintenance Circuit Rider Contract 🌏 GSI Hawaii Inc. has been awarded a $2.5M contract with the Honolulu USACE for a Hospital Maintenance Circuit Rider program to support healthcare facilities across the Pacific Islands. A Circuit Rider will travel to ten hospitals in Palau, Guam, Saipan, Yap, Chuuk, Pohnpei, Kosrae, Majuro, Ebeye, and American Samoa to assess operations, identify gaps, and develop specifically tailored maintenance plans. Given the unique challenges faced by these island facilities—such as limited documentation and equipment manuals in foreign languages—the Circuit Rider will also create SOPs for managing tools, supplies, and work orders. The contract also includes a training component in which the Circuit Rider will guide maintenance projects, assist hospital staff, and support grant proposal writing. By focusing on sustainable solutions, this four-year initiative aims to improve current operations while building long-term self-sufficiency. The program will strengthen healthcare infrastructure and patient care across the Indo-Pacific region, and we are proud to be part of this essential effort. #GSI #USACE #IndoPacific

🌊 A Muddy and Meaningful Day of #MālamaʻĀina ·        45 Volunteers ·        580 Genki Balls Made ·        300 Genki Balls Released NHCDC and The GSI Family of Companies came together to support the #GenkiAlaWaiProject, a nonprofit using bioremediation to clean and restore the Ala Wai Canal. We worked together to make fresh genki balls and release cured ones. These small but mighty balls are filled with microorganisms that break down sludge and reduce bacteria—part of a long-term effort to make the Ala Wai fishable and swimmable by 2026. This project was a perfect fit for our team: with GSI’s environmental division and NHCDC’s mission to support STEM in Hawaiʻi. 🌱 Why the Ala Wai Matters The Ala Wai Canal is a man-made waterway built to drain Waikīkī’s wetlands and enable urban development. It channels the Makiki, Mānoa, and Pālolo streams out to sea. Before it was dredged, this area was rich with loʻi kalo (taro patches) and loko iʻa (traditional fishponds). While the canal helped transform Waikīkī into a world-famous destination, urbanization led to runoff, sewage, and debris, polluting the waterway over time. What was once a place for fishing, swimming, and boating became a health hazard. That’s where #GenkiBalls come in by using beneficial microorganisms to clean the canal. Mahalo to Genki and Kouri Nago for making this day possible! Learn More: https://lnkd.in/gnMHczfK

  • GSI spoke to kindergarten through fifth grade students at Kapunahala Elementary School about the exciting world of construction and engineering! From designing to building, our team introduced them to the many career paths within the industry. These early conversations help spark interest in STEM and skilled trades, laying the foundation for future builders. It was inspiring to see the students' curiosity and enthusiasm firsthand. As NHO-owned firms, the GSI companies are committed to mentoring Hawaii’s youth—ensuring they have the knowledge, opportunities, and encouragement to pursue careers that will allow them to live and thrive in Hawai'i.
