About us

There are a billion good intentions tucked inside each and every one of us. At GoFundMe, we believe that the impulse to help a person, fix a neighborhood, or change a nation should never be ignored. In fact, it should be shared with the entire world. That’s why we make it easy to inspire the world and turn your compassion into action. By giving people the tools they need to capture and share their story far and wide, we have built a community of more than 200 million donors and helped organizers raise over $15 billion for the causes important to them—and we are just getting started. Check out current job openings, join our team, and be a part of the change below. ## GoFundMe has assembled one of the best management teams in the business to build the next leading consumer Internet company, including leaders from LinkedIn, Groupon, and Google. We are also funded by some of Silicon Valley’s best venture capital firms, including Accel, Greylock, and TCV.

Traditional DAFs have long been associated with high-net-worth donors and complex giving structures. But now GoFundMe is reimagining what DAFs can be: accessible, transparent, and designed for donors at every level. Why this matters:   ✅ It democratizes giving, putting more power in the hands of individuals and communities.   ✅ It allows donors to support causes with intention, while aligning with the tax advantages of charitable giving.   ✅ It bridges the gap between spontaneous generosity and strategic philanthropy. It's time to reshape the future of giving. Read the full The Chronicle of Philanthropy article in the comments below.

With much fanfare, GoFundMe recently announced it was dipping its toes into donor-advised funds with its new Giving Fund offering. While GoFundMe is properly enthusiastic about its new tool, those who watch DAFs, are generally positive, too, saying the offering is likely to put DAFs on the radar of a segment of donors who DAFs have not traditionally been marketed to. And with GoFundMe pitching them as a giving vehicle, rather than a financial services vehicle, some say it may counter one of the criticisms of DAF—that money just sits there, growing—and move money to charities quicker. We’re honored to share that one of America’s longstanding philanthropic institutions, the Richard King Mellon Foundation, has made a $250,000 grant to GoFundMe.org to bring immediate relief to Texans impacted by the devastating Fourth of July floods. This is the largest single charitable donation to our Texas Flood Relief Fund to date—and it will dramatically expand our ability to help families in urgent need. This generous gift will enable us to provide hundreds of emergency cash relief grants to survivors—helping them meet critical needs as they begin the long process of rebuilding. If you’d like to join this effort, donations to the Fund can be made via credit/debit card, Apple Pay, Venmo, Google Pay, PayPal, or DAF. We also accept stock, wire/ACH, check, and crypto. Every donation is tax-deductible and goes directly toward helping those impacted. https://lnkd.in/gYgSVZz2

My buddy Trevor Cragg and I just wrapped up an inspiring few days at the National Basketball Association (NBA) Social Impact Summit in Las Vegas—and I’m still thinking about the conversations, commitments, and community that made it such a powerful gathering. I had the honor of co-leading a session with Genisha Metcalf from the NBA Foundation on “Modern Giving: Unlocking Momentum in Mission-Driven Fundraising.” We explored how today’s most successful nonprofits and social impact leaders are tapping into new platforms, new behaviors, and new expectations to fuel transformational impact. Here’s what’s clear: 💡 The next generation of donors expects immediacy, transparency, and connection. 💡 Innovation in giving—from grassroots crowdfunding to digital campaigns to values-based philanthropy—is not optional. It’s essential. 💡 Tools like GoFundMe are helping mission-driven organizations meet people where they are, invite broader participation, and make generosity feel accessible and personal. As someone who spent 20 years as a frontline fundraiser, it’s thrilling to see how this evolution is empowering everyday givers, diversifying the donor base, and accelerating progress across causes. It’s also a call to action for nonprofit leaders to embrace what’s next. 🏀 Huge thanks to the National Basketball Association (NBA), the NBA FOUNDATION INC, and the incredible community of social impact leaders who shared insights, stories, and bold visions for change. And to Billy Shore and Share Our Strength for reminding us all: the heart of this work is human. Let’s keep building more inclusive, innovative pathways to generosity. Together. 💚

  • Celebrating civic generosity in Rome and Frankfurt 🙌 Our CEO Tim Cadogan recently met with the mayors of Rome and Frankfurt am Main, two of Europe’s most generous cities on GoFundMe. These visits were opportunities to acknowledge the civic engagement, solidarity, and generosity that characterize both communities, as well as to explore new forms of collaboration between public institutions and our platform. 🇮🇹 In Rome, Mayor Roberto Gualtieri received an award on behalf of the city, which has ranked among the top five most generous cities in Europe on GoFundMe since 2018. This recognition reflects a deeply rooted culture of active citizenship, embodied in initiatives that promote environmental protection, access to education, and care for public spaces. 🇩🇪 In Frankfurt am Main, Mayor Mike Josef was presented with an award recognising the city as the most generous in Germany per capita on GoFundMe. The meeting also provided an opportunity to hear directly from three local organisers whose campaigns have visualized strong community support. Their stories highlighted Frankfurt’s distinctive spirit of mutual aid and civic responsibility. These recognitions serve as a reminder that generosity is not only a personal value, but also a powerful form of civic participation. At GoFundMe, we are proud to support individuals and communities who step forward to help one another, and we are committed to continuing our collaboration with public institutions to strengthen the culture of giving across Europe.

Nonprofits helping in Texas 💚 Here are some of our partners who are on the ground in Texas, helping the communities impacted by last week's flooding in their recovery efforts: Austin PetsAlive, World Central Kitchen, The Salvation Army, Direct Relief, Baby2Baby, CORE (Community Organized Relief Effort), All Hands and Hearts, Americares, Children's Bereavement Center of South Texas, and Good360. You can donate to support them on the GoFundMe hub: https://gfme.co/4lQdDPM

  • This week marks 6 months since the LA wildfires began. As we look back at the incredible global response, we want to acknowledge the many locals who focused on helping their community, even while suffering their own losses. One of those stories is Daniel Shemtob's. A chef and entrepreneur who lost his home in the Pacific Palisades, Daniel turned his heartbreak into action — donating over 40,000 meals and 1,000+ pairs of shoes to people in need.

  • Spreading the word about Giving Funds 📰 Thank you to Caroline Chambers for sharing our new product with her newsletter audience, and why she's so excited to use it. "The best part, other than the giving itself, is that you receive one single tax receipt for EVERYTHING, so no more digging through emails at 2 a.m. the night before Tax Day trying to track down receipts (or forgoing the tax perk altogether because you can't find your receipt/forgot about a donation you made)." There are more than 1.4 million nonprofits you can give your Giving Funds to. Caroline chose World Central Kitchen and the Navy SEAL Foundation. Who will you support? Getting Texans the help they need—fast. Our friends at GoFundMe.org have launched a Flood Relief Fund to deliver immediate, direct support to people impacted by the devastating floods in Texas: https://gofund.me/a3c58c2c. This fund gets cash into the hands of survivors quickly—just one day after launching, over 80 relief grants totaling $105,000 had already been issued. If this feels familiar, it’s because you might remember the Wildfire Relief Fund from earlier this year, which raised over $8 million and supported more than 7,400 people after the Los Angeles wildfires. These funds work. They make a real difference, fast. 🙏 If you’re able to donate, now’s the time. 🔁 If you can’t donate, you can still help—by sharing this post with your network, forwarding the link, or reposting on social. Every share helps reach someone who can give. Every donation helps someone rebuild.
