CSP North America leverages scientific research and runs trainings to mobilize capital toward social change.
About us
At the Center for Sustainable Finance and Private Wealth (CSP), our work is based on two important developments: 1. Sustainable Finance has emerged as a key opportunity to deploy large amounts of capital for financial returns and positive social and environmental outcomes. Sustainable Finance can become a key driver for sustainable development. 2. Private Wealth has become highly concentrated. Today, 0.7% of the global population control more than 50% of total private wealth, as well as many of the world’s largest conglomerates, companies and foundations. Many wealth owners are deeply interested in Sustainable Finance, but lack the capacity to engage. To bring these two phenomena together, our research and teaching work is uniquely positioned at the nexus of sustainable finance and private wealth. As such, our goal is to activate private wealth and sustainable finance, at scale, as a substantial driver for sustainable development.

Center for Sustainable Finance and Private Wealth (CSP) North America reposted this
What an extraordinary journey we’ve just wrapped up here in Zurich. 🏔️✨ We knew it would be special when this group came together but nothing could’ve prepared us for the depth of conversation, courage, and clarity that unfolded. Bold ideas. Breathtaking landscapes. Purpose-led wealth holders, all asking the same question: ↳ How can I tell if the change I'm contributing to is incremental or systemic? The energy in the cohort was electric as they mapped systems, identified leverage points, and built action plans to move capital in ways that regenerate, not extract. In every workshop and dialogue, one thing became clear. This is no longer about marginal tweaks. It’s about redesigning the system itself. 🤝 Deep thank you to our speakers and mentors — including the Katapult Foundation, MIT Sloan School of Management, TransCap Initiative, TWIST: Investing for Systems Change, Center for Sustainable Finance and Private Wealth — and experts such as Jason Jay, Johannes Tschiderer, Britta Gruenig, Professional Certified Coach, Kirsten Andersen, Matthias Waldkirch, Falko Paetzold, and Dominic Hofstetter — for guiding us through this work with insight and integrity. As one participant put it: “This isn’t just about frameworks. It’s about finding the courage and clarity to act — together.” To the 17-strong cohort, thank you for showing up with such humility, intelligence, and drive. You are the reason this work matters. And if you’ve read this and thought, “I wish I’d been there,” reach out to Marietta Chatzinota at marietta.chatzinota@df.uzh.ch to learn more about our course Investing for Systems Change. We offer a range of trainings for changemakers like you. 🌍 Capital can be part of the problem or part of the solution. Last week, we chose the latter.

Yesterday, at the Systemic Investing Summit in London, we gathered with a shared purpose: exploring how private wealth can drive real, systemic transformation. It was so good to see so many of you there. There’s always something very special about so many changemakers being in the same room. Ideas take shape, connections deepen, and collective energy builds.⚡ Among them were CSP’s Kirsten Andersen, CO’s Tania Rodriguez Riestra, The Good Investor’s Richard Azarnia, and POLLEX’s Dr. Julie Engelhorn, who led our session, “Advancing the Practice: Private Wealth’s Unique Role in Systemic Investing”. Through case studies and peer exchange, they explored different approaches to deploying capital across asset classes and building collaborative stakeholder networks to drive systemic change. As the newly published “Investor’s Guide to Systemic Investing” highlights, systemic investing isn’t about fixing isolated issues, it’s about shifting the underlying conditions that create them. The discussion surfaced key insights: 💡 The value and necessity of collaboration 💡 The feasibility of market rate returns without being extractive 💡 The ‘taxes’ of learning, building and orchestrating as a pioneer in systemic investing We were inspired by the depth of discussion and the willingness of so many to step into this work together. Thank you for bringing this session to life and for continuing to drive action! So, what’s next? 🔖 Get the guide and take the next step. Developed in partnership with the MIT Sloan Sustainability Initiative, this multicapital framework provides practical tools to maximize synergies and ensure impact strategies stay mission-aligned. CSP will also be leading a Multicapital for Impact roundtable at lunch, hosted in collaboration with Stanford Center on Philanthropy and Civil Society (Stanford PACS). If you’re attending the summit, we’d love to connect! See you there.
