Chief Operating Officer at Boulder Care

Today’s the day! I’m honored to join an incredible panel at #BHBForum25 to talk about what it really means to design addiction care for lifetime value — grounded in patient voice, lived experience, and evidence-based innovation. At Boulder Care, we’re not just thinking about rapid access, we’re focused on retention, trust, and what it takes to support long-term recovery. I’m excited to share how our care model is shaped by and with the people we serve, and how that shows up in our industry-leading engagement and outcomes. We’ll also get into Medicaid, and the implications of the recent tax and spending bill for addiction care. I’m especially looking forward to hearing from Dr. Ayesha Appa, whose work and wisdom on whole-person care in a fragmented system continues to inspire me — both personally and professionally. If you’re in Chicago, hope to see you there! #AddictionCare #BehavioralHealth #HealthEquity #MedicaidPolicy #BoulderCare

  • 💰 This Week’s SUD Stat: $95 Billion That’s how much U.S. hospitals spend annually on opioid use disorder (OUD)-associated care, according to Premier Inc. At Boulder Care, we believe there’s a better way — one that’s not just more humane, but far more cost-effective. By delivering evidence-backed addiction medicine upstream before a crisis hits, Boulder's model: ➡️ reduces hospital admissions ➡️ reduces ED visits ➡️ increases retention When people are treated right they stay in treatment longer while they rebuild their life in recovery. Boulder is building a platform that bends the cost curve and improves lives. We refuse to wait until addiction become a hospital emergency. We treat SUD like the chronic condition it is — early, effectively, and compassionately.

  • Boulder Care’s peers are unmatched. Peer Recovery Specialists are integral to our care model. Patients can log into the Boulder app and talk to a peer anytime about anything on their mind. Peers have firsthand experience of recovery and they understand the struggle of addiction in ways no one else does. • This week we’re listening to The 13th Step, an investigative podcast from New Hampshire Public Radio, reported by senior journalist/producer Lauren Chooljian. The series explores the prevalence of sexual misconduct within the world of addiction recovery. It's an important topic that often flies under the radar. What is the "13th step"? It's when people with seniority or status in the recovery community exploit those who are new and vulnerable. The investigation reveals a longstanding culture of abuse in the addiction treatment system. When people seek recovery they are at one of the most vulnerable points in their lives. That vulnerability, craving connection and security, should never be exploited. Especially with how toxic today’s drug supply is, harming someone who is trying to get help is dangerous. Patient safety is at the center of our care at Boulder. Patients have told us they view telehealth as protective. Telehealth care lowers the risk of physical vulnerability and care is provided with clear boundaries. Telehealth offers addiction care that's uniquely discrete, private, and safe. Every person seeking recovery deserves to feel secure, respected, and supported. Learn more about Boulder’s care model: Boulder.care/get-started

  • "We want to see every American with opioid addiction have access to the level of care that Boulder offers -- we know it's possible." - Dr. Liz Bogel Ryan, Boulder Care's Medical Director. At Princeton University’s Alumni-Faculty forum, Dr. Liz shared her vision for innovating and improving addiction care alongside Nabarun Dasgupta (of the amazing OpioidData.org team). The best medicine that science has to offer is still out of reach for far too many. Boulder is working everyday to change that. Dr. Liz has a deeply human understanding of substance use disorder and the patients we serve everyday. Her expertise and empathy is why Boulder’s outcomes exceed industry standards: 🔹 93% of patients are meeting their goals of reducing unwanted use  🔹 62% of patients stay in care for six months (compared to 29% industry average)  🔹 74% of patients rate their recovery progress as good to excellent Learn more about the Boulder Care model: Boulder.care/services

  • This week's SUD Stat is 1 out 5. 1 out 5 adults with opioid addiction receive medication treatments like buprenorphine or methadone. These medications increase patient retention, relieve symptoms of withdrawal, and reduce the risk of overdose. Patients tell us again and again that buprenorphine has helped them get their life back. Whether it's employment, education or relationships, medication treatment is a stabilizing force. Despite how effective these drugs are, they remain inaccessible due to a combination of attitudinal and structural barriers. Patients tell us they encounter stigma and struggle to find providers who are willing to treat addiction. Boulder is laser-focused on changing the status quo, expanding access and delivering high quality care to everyone who needs it.

  • Access to life-saving medicine for opioid addiction still depends on where you live, how much you earn, whether you can get time off work, and if you can find a willing provider near you. Patients tell us they come to Boulder Care because we breakdown those barriers and get people the care they need the moment they need it. Here is how patients get started: boulder.care/getstarted

Accomplished Talent Acquisition Specialist | 9+ Years in Healthcare & Tech Recruitment | Expert in Strategic Sourcing, Candidate Engagement, & Diversity Advocacy

When I joined Boulder Care I knew I was stepping into something bold—something revolutionary. This wasn’t just a Series C health tech startup. Boulder was redefining addiction treatment: making it accessible, judgment-free, and truly patient-centered—all delivered virtually. As a recruiter, my mission was clear: help build a clinical team that could meet people where they are—literally and emotionally. ✨ During my time there, we hit some incredible milestones: ✅ Sourced and hired mission-aligned providers and nurses across the country ✅ Met our Q3 and Q4 provider hiring goals ahead of schedule, supporting national expansion ✅ Built a diverse pipeline of physicians and NPs with backgrounds in addiction medicine, harm reduction, and trauma-informed care ✅ Partnered closely with clinical leadership to shape a hiring process that honored both speed and empathy But beyond the numbers, what mattered most was the why: Every hire we made represented hundreds of patients who could now get the care they needed—with dignity and without delay. Boulder reminded me that recruiting isn’t just about filling roles—it’s about changing lives. And I’m so proud to have been part of that mission. If you’re building something meaningful in healthcare, mental wellness, or telehealth—let’s connect. 💙 #BoulderCare #HealthcareRecruiting #Telehealth #SeriesBStartup #HarmReduction #AddictionRecovery #MissionDrivenWork #ProviderRecruiter #MentalHealthMatters
