The newly released International Labour Organization/UNICEF report finds that 138 million children are still in child labour - 54 million in hazardous work. The data shows a total reduction of over 22 million children since 2020. Despite this positive trend, the world has missed its target of eliminating child labour by 2025. We know what works - tackling the root causes of child labour – ensuring access to free, quality education, social protection and decent work for adults and youth of legal working age. Now is the time to speed up efforts. Working in partnership is more important than ever. Alliance 8.7 Pathfinder Countries are driving action to accelerate progress. Through financial literacy, better farming techniques, and community support, Rebecca transformed hardship into opportunity. Her story is a powerful reminder that when we invest in parents, we protect children. 📽️ Watch her story: https://lnkd.in/dkwrDgbb

Universal social protection has a key role to play in addressing child labour and to accelerate progress for children's well-being, as demonstrated by the new global report by the International Labour Organization and UNICEF. #socialprotection #socialsecurity #USP2030 ILO Social Protection
New International Labour Organization and UNICEF child labour data show that progress is possible. Children belong in school, not in work. Parents need access to decent work and social protection to support their families. We've a long way to go to #EndChildLabour but we're heading in the right direction. 🍃 👨🌾 Behind every safer farm is a trained officer. Through the CLEAR Supply Chains Project, district agronomists in Uganda are learning how to identify child labour risks in coffee farming—and act on them. 📚 The recent training for local officials is helping to integrate child labour prevention into new coffee regulations and standard operating procedures, paving the way for systemic change and more sustainable, ethical coffee production. Thanks to a joint effort by the International Labour Organization and FAO, Uganda is investing in the people who make sustainable supply chains possible. 📖 Full article : https://lnkd.in/efqV-DGs
