One thing to help your staff be more efficient is proper training. It's a shame how many people are "thrown to the fire" with minimal training. This causes a huge riff in timely completion of goals, instead of working, workers are twiddling their thums because they have no dirextion. Also, be knowledgeable in the positions you're overseeing. A team is only as good as their leader. If their leader doesn't have a clue on what tasks need to be completed, the staff isn't going to get them accomplished effectively.
