I think the most important skill will be to understand your suppliers business model. This will automatically put you in a "forced" position to understand their product/offering, which in itself is extremely important. Understanding this will put you in a position to already identify potential risks well in advance. And you can perhaps mitigate the risk before you have to rely on your backup plan. This is where relationships are extremely important as you sometimes have to make suggestions or assist in implementing solutions which can often be uncomfortable discussions.

All ways keep your stocks with extra especially on products that are used regularly or frequently . Pre order in advance before stock goes down to ensure parts are always available when needed. Always use the OEM products that have guarantee to reduce and to share the risk. Use of part numbers and investing in research of good,best and equivalent after market parts that do not affect warranty on some products

Para mim, organização, planeamento e gestão será o mais importante, pois se organizar, planear e gerir os materiais que usamos tempo sempre uma check list pronta e requisição a tempo para O material chegar no tempo certo, sempre antes de acabar o stock. Lógico que pode haver imprevisto, mas se tivermos um balanço em sistema do normal que partes usadas anualmente será mais fácil prever o necessário.
