My experience is that, (Micro)Managers and Bosses have failed the teams in every crisis, small and big, in the high stakes Oil and Gas sector/operations. What we need is a leader who owns the teams and problems, and be the First person responsible and accountable for all the lows and gives credit to the teams for the Highs!. Teams under such leadership will always have a high morale!.

🔶🔷A crisis in Oil and Gas can feel like drilling with a dull bit—tough, but not impossible. Start by keeping communication transparent; no one likes working in the dark (literally or figuratively). Offer support, whether it’s training, a listening ear, or just a well-timed coffee break. And don’t forget to celebrate the small wins—it’s amazing what a pizza party or a simple “great job” can do. Crisis or not, teamwork fuels success. How do you keep your crew motivated when the pressure’s on?

Being a leader, sit with your team, support them, value them as they are the one who do all the hard work for you at site. In addition to this, announce small awards/rewards to celebrate their hardwork. Also, give them break to spend time with family. All the (cry)sis will increase the team bond if a leader unites his team, stands with team and laughs with the team.

When there is a crisis in a sector you can leave it or you can stay in. To stay in you need motivations. As a leader you have to listen and understand each team member motivation and then you can work on that. It's not about you, it's about them.
