Your mechanical and software teams are clashing during diagnostics. How do you resolve the conflicts?

When mechanical and software teams clash during diagnostics, it can delay projects and cause frustration. Here’s how to resolve these conflicts:

  • Facilitate joint meetings: Encourage regular meetings to discuss diagnostics, ensuring both teams understand each other's perspectives.

  • Define clear roles: Clarify each team’s responsibilities to reduce overlap and confusion.

  • Use a common language: Develop shared terminology to minimize misunderstandings during diagnostics.

How do you bridge the gap between different teams at work? Share your thoughts.

Good communication and teamwork are important to solve conflicts. Most conflicts happen because of stress or frustration about not finding the problem. A root cause analysis can help resolve this. Using this or another framework can help to reduce stresses as there is a clear path forward. If there’s conflict during these processes, it’s important to talk openly and clearly to hear each other out and understand why there is conflict. Pointing out that everyone is trying to solve the same problem sometimes helps. By working together and using everyone’s skills, it’s easier to find the problem and fix it.
