1️⃣ Pause & Align: Gather the team for a quick sync. Revisit the sprint goal. 2️⃣ Impact over Urgency: Prioritize tasks that deliver the most value, not just what is loudest. 3️⃣ Use MoSCoW: Categorize tasks into Must, Should, Could and Won’t — & adjust scope. 4️⃣ Shift Resources: Reassign efforts to unblock progress elsewhere. Stay flexible. 5️⃣ Communicate Fast: Keep stakeholders in the loop to manage expectations and build trust. 👉 Agility is about adapting, not just planning.

It's up to the product owner to prioritise the tasks during the sprint planning sessions, and up to the scrum master to unblock the roadblocks. During the standup meetings the scrum master will take note of issues slowing down the tasks and get them fixed so the team can carry on with their work. I believe if something was a priority at the start of the sprint should not be changed in the middle of the sprint.

Involving the PO in reprioritisation is important, but not every decision can wait. Having enough knowledge of business goals is essential. It enables quick decision-making during sprint execution, rather than letting blockers turn into idle time. Waiting for guidance in every situation often creates more roadblocks than it resolves. It’s also about trust. A team that sees hesitation or constant escalation can lose confidence. A team that sees decisions being made in line with goals has someone to follow. In mature Agile setups, teams are already tuned into dependency management and sprint goals. Creating an environment where they can shift focus when blocked, without losing momentum, helps mistake-proof delays and keeps delivery flowing.

Reprioritize tasks by applying Value-Driven Delivery and Adaptive Planning. First, reassess the product backlog with stakeholders using techniques like MoSCoW or WSJF to identify high-value items. Next, conduct a daily stand-up to surface impediments, then collaborate with the team to adjust priorities based on changing needs or roadblocks. Use progressive elaboration and continuous feedback to remain flexible and deliver the most valuable work within the sprint constraints.

Begin by conducting a quick team meeting to identify and discuss current roadblocks. Use a prioritization matrix to differentiate between urgent and important tasks. Engage the team in collaborative backlog refinement to reassess priorities based on evolving project goals. Focus on tasks that unblock critical paths and deliver value. Maintain open communication with stakeholders to manage expectations and adjust priorities as needed to keep the sprint aligned with strategic objectives.
