To mediate this conflict, you need to conduct joint meetings with both teams. This is to give them both the chance to explain what resources they need and why they need it. You need to then evaluate which resources are necessary. This is so that you would know if they should be given the security resources or not. You need to explain to each team why it's needed or not needed. This is to avoid them from quarrelling.

To mediate conflict between IT and non-technical teams over security resources, use a balanced, collaborative approach: Align on Shared Goals: Emphasize that both sides want to protect the organization while enabling productivity. Translate Needs Clearly: Help non-technical teams understand the value of security and IT understand the operational impact of rigid controls. Facilitate Open Dialogue: Create a neutral space where both teams can voice concerns and priorities. Prioritize Together: Use risk assessments to jointly decide which resources are critical and where trade-offs are acceptable. Encourage Continuous Communication: Establish regular check-ins to maintain alignment and prevent future friction.
