In my experience, one needs to be open-minded and willing to learn in order to understand the BPR methodology. It is always important to clearly understand your company's goal and objectives in order to utilize the BPR methodology that best delivers the desired value and result.

One thing I have found helpful is to lay down the vision and drivers behind the exercise to the teams and stakeholders involved so that they are motivated to engage and share their experiences. Openness and transparency is critical for this effort and change management is an important aspect for this discovery to succeed.

All the skills outlined are all necessary skills but I feel the skill to map the process to the underlying systems and then being able to document the time between and during each step in the process and then identifying ways to optimize the process by removing/adding/changing steps is where the biggest value can be reaped. Moreover, this is a very collaborative effort and therefore teamwork and project management skills are going to critical as well.

I agree with everything here, but it is also important to ensure the training is imparted in a timely manner without impacting ongoing work. I would also recommend more experiential learnings such as on the job training, internships, apprentices so they can learn by observing and experiencing the day in the life of. We should also conduct periodic assessment of the training effectiveness so it can be iteratively improved upon.

In addition to all the above, I would also recommend getting feedback from the customers and stakeholders impacted by the BPR effort so that we can continuously evaluate and improve the BPR effort and the training program, which is essential to sustaining the success of the organization in the long term.
