In order to establish authorship, as a graphic designer, I would first collect all proof of my original work, including time stamps, drafts, emails, and presentation files, if my design concepts were stolen during a presentation. I would then professionally approach the person in question, provide the evidence, and ask for appropriate credit or a settlement. While protecting future work using watermarks, NDAs, and established timetables, I would think about taking the matter to a higher level through official channels like a copyright claim or legal notice if the problem continues.

I simplify my setup to manage solo. That might mean switching to a tripod instead of handheld or choosing lenses that need less fuss. I rely on my knowledge of camera settings to fine-tune everything and get the best results without extra help.

Having a network of people who can step in when these situations arise is always a good start, obviously not ideal but if this is the kind of teammate that's flaky making sure you are capable to pick up the work is also a bonus, lastly having an open conversation with the client if an other person is definitely required, possible reschedule or doing a part of the shoot and/or other day/a contingency day always for emergencies.

When the team is smaller than planned, clear communication becomes even more important. I make sure everyone knows what’s changed and what the new plan is. Whether I’m talking to the remaining crew, models, or clients, I give clear, simple directions to keep things running smoothly. When everyone’s on the same page, the shoot feels more organized, and the results are better.
