Staying current in game design isn’t about luck—it’s about structured curiosity. Here’s what works for me: • Daily scan: I follow niche subreddits, Twitter/X lists, and Discord groups to spot early patterns. • Micro-mentorship: One thing I’ve found helpful is casually DM’ing devs whose work inspires me—those short chats often spark big insights. • Post-mortem deep dives: Analyzing released games’ success or failure gives grounded trend perspective. • Quarterly pulse checks: I block time every few months to digest GDC talks, Unity/Unreal updates, and indie showcases. Consistent, intentional effort keeps me ahead—not just in the loop.
