With the ongoing demand for fossil fuel based resources, innovative drilling practices are spiking and are currently in action. While this is the current scenario, the timeline to complete the entire drilling operation especially at remote locations, to bringing the well online after testing is still challenging. All procedures followed are needed to be fast-tracked and if possible, an rather than an optimistic one, it is better to have realistic and practical deadlines. This increases confidence besides reducing NPT and further costs.

Meeting deadlines in any project is about planning and preparedness. Time you spend planning can save time you spend on fire fighting, saves cost and also save design compromise. So best way to do planning is to think Murphys law and creat contingencies for reasonable possibilities. Optimize them with available resources. Timelines should also be planned accordingly. Critical task and timelines highlighted. Track project, have clear milestones and decision points for contingency as well. Tighter the deadline more resource intensive it becomes. Asign resources as per importance and criticality. Doing a drill on paper exercise will help.
